Becoming a manager is a complex thing to do and not everyone has the ability to become one. Even more difficult is becoming a great manager. There are many important aspects to becoming a good manager. What do be a great manager involves? It involves having the necessary personal qualities, having the necessary personal basic abilities, and having the necessary communicative abilities. It is important to have the practices that distinguish a great manager. Also, it is needed to have an example of what an excellent manager is and how an excellent manager work.
There is a certain profile for being a manager and there are three things that are good to have in mind when looking at this profile. First, the personal qualities such as being responsible, being a committed person and maintaining a positive attitude. The second thing to worry about are the basic skills such as taking yourself seriously, have deep self-knowledge knowing your strengths and weaknesses, have clear goals, establish and having a plan of what you want to do, being an example to follow. Don’t think that you are better than everyone else, ask your workers what you can do better at and what you need to change, you also need to talk to your clients and ask them for feedback about your work and your companies work, have deep knowledge about your work, be prepare in many fronts of knowledge about what type of work you do and the type of line of work you are part of. The third thing to have in mind is your communicative skills being able to talk with clarity, assertively and congruence.
Following this there are also certain important practices that makes for an excellent leader. Practices such as making sure that you have a habitude of leadership:
Leadership is a process by which an executive can direct, guide and influence the behavior and work of others towards accomplishment of specific goals in a given situation. Leadership is the ability of a manager to induce the subordinates to work with confidence and zeal.” (Juneja, 2015).
Becoming creative is having a plan for your company that keeps going and generating new ideas. Also important is to practice empathy for example is to being able to put yourself in the situation of your worker to being able to know how to motivate them and know how to make them work better. There are other practices such as being productive, being a problem solver, helping people, being balanced, studious and organized.
As mentioned before, it is important to have an example. For me is my mother, she has a flower distribution company. She’s an amazing manager and she has grown her company from little to the biggest in her market. So, I asked what makes her a great manager and she said: that she is very fast when it comes to having a solution for a problem. Second is that she is always looking for ways in which she can improve the company. Having a certain profile for a manager that counts with personal qualities, basic skills and communicative skills, and the practices that makes for a good manager, such as leadership, empathy, creativity, productivity, problem resolution, helpfulness, being balanced, studious and organized, is something very important. So, if you want to be a great manager those are some things that you can follow.
