Resilience in companies and businesses has always been a fundamental ability for growth, development, and improvement. Many are seeking that within their organizations both employees and management can display this skill. Ovans defines resilience on their Publish at Harvard Business Review blog, as the ability to adapt to change, either to recover from an unfavorable event or to face change and move forward (Ovans, 2015). For this reason, companies constantly seek more and more knowledge of the power that exists in this skill. Employees are surveyed internally to find out what factors directly affect the lack or decline in this regard. To the surprise of companies, employees are not affected by external factors, but for the most part the lack of resilience is affected by internal factors such as the difficulty in processes, complicated personnel management, among other factors. That’s why the administration and stakeholders are seeking models or tools to fight this back and it is increasingly appreciated in the institutions and businesses that it is present in each of its collaborators.
There is a process that has managed to present important characteristics that can contribute to the growth and development of resilience in employees, in the structure of the company and its management. It can become an essential element if it is successfully applied, and this is the model of continuous improvement. This model is achieved by searching of revolutionary improvements through the analysis of products, services and processes and the introduction of new better ways to perform them (McKewen, 2016). But how can this model increase resilience in employees and management? The answer lies in the fact that this model is an essential and applicable element in any type of business since it seeks constant improvement in processes to facilitate communication and effectiveness among all collaborators.
Properly executed, this model provides a vital structure for building and improving business resilience, which in turn creates a better work environment, gives employees the tools they need to succeed, removes extra steps, and streamlines operations. This process uses very precise metrics such as efficiency, quality, employee commitment, on-time delivery, thus seeking a global improvement in the company. All this creates an environment where employees are committed to their responsibilities, understand them, and fulfill them. When an institution can provide this to its collaborators it automatically cancels misunderstandings, lack of knowledge of the objectives, unnecessary work, thus creating the development of good resilience in everyone within the company.
The continuous improvement model will always be a more than positive addition, since the company will improve their activities constantly giving the possibility of not only achieve the improvement otherwise the company will get more resilience. If the company have a continuous improvement method, will have more capacity to afront the adversity or the changes that could be come. Will have a productive environment, in which innovation will always be sought and opportunities will always be pursued to improve processes. It is an investment in business development that will only bring guaranteed growth with unexpected improvements. This well implemented and developed tool guarantees the success of the business and that of the employees.
